'Spring Ride' set to return June 4 and 5

Scott Steuck | 05/06/2021

The 2021 Cruisin’ for a Cause, formerly known as the MDA Spring Ride, will return to Bull Falls Harley-Davidson of Wausau on Friday and Saturday, June 4 and 5.

Registration is now open for the event, which will continue to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), as well as the Community Outreach Task Force of Marathon County.

“The Wausau Fire Department will be here with their boots collecting tips while bartending both nights to raise money for MDA, while members of the Community Outreach Task Force will be volunteering at the event to help raise money to help our community’s most vulnerable populations,” said Dixie Kinnard, Bull Falls co-owner and event organizer.

Cruisin’ for a Cause will include a motorcycle parade from Marathon County Park in Wausau to the dealership, located at 1570 County Road XX in Rothschild, at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, June 4. The ride is being held in memory of Bull Falls Harley Owners Group (HOG) members Jim Gabower and Kelly Matz.

The Quitters, a rock and roll band from Appleton, will provide music at the dealership following the parade from 6 to 9 p.m.  A food court, featuring food trucks from a number of local vendors, and a bar, served by the Wausau Fire Department, will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday.

On Saturday, June 5, a Scavenger Hunt Ride will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Drivers and passengers are on their own after receiving their ride card, which will feature five stops within a 20-mile radius of Wausau. Participants must write down the Scavenger Hunt word at each stop and then bring it back to the dealership by 4 p.m. to qualify to win prizes.

Back at the dealership following the Scavenger Hunt Ride, raffle drawings and a stage presentation will take place at 7 p.m., with music by The Jimmys, an award-winning blues-rock band from Madison, from 5 to 9 p.m.

The cost for the Scavenger Hunt Ride is $25 per driver and $15 per passenger. All participants will receive a free ride pin. This fee also includes access to both bands, as well as the Friday night parade.

Tickets for approximately 40 raffle baskets will be available to purchase throughout the event. Items for the raffle have been donated by Bull Falls Harley-Davidson, the Bull Falls HOG Chapter, and local businesses and individuals.

Money is also being raised through pledge forms available online at www.bullfallshd.com. Individuals can win prizes for specific pledge goals and people are encouraged to compete against friends and other riders.

The public is welcome to attend the event. Preregistration is open now online and at the dealership, while registration will also be available on the day of the event from 9 a.m. to noon. Pledge and registration forms are available at www.bullfallshd.com. People who pre-register by June 3 will be entered for a chance to win a Harley-Davidson wall sign.

People who wish to come for the bands but who don’t wish to ride can do so for $5 for The Quitters on Friday and $10 for The Jimmys on Saturday.

Sponsors of the event so far include NRG Media, Midwest Communications, Borregaard, Mid-Wisconsin Beverage, Fabiano Brothers, Cloverfield Credit Union, Rack Industrial, and Buska Retirement Solutions & Wealth Management.
