Bikers can learn how to extend their riding life and improve their well-being through a free 90-minute yoga workshop at Bull Falls Harley-Davidson of Wausau on Saturday, Aug. 21.
World-renowned Yoga-Biker Gregory Ormson will present his class, “Yoga for Bikers,” from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the dealership located at 1570 County Road XX in Rothschild.
“This workshop will enhance the ability of riders to be at ease in the saddle in the midst of stress,” said Ormson. “Ultimately, if riders continue applying the lessons of ease during stress, their lives along with riding and coping skills will be improved.”
Ormson said everyone is welcome to attend the workshop, and no yoga experience or special clothing is necessary. “The active moments are beginner level and focused on bikers’ needs: backs, necks, hips, hands, and wrists,” he said, noting passive movements and a continuation on breath management will conclude the workshop.
Ormson is a former Motorcycle Safety Foundation rider/coach for the state of Hawaii, a long-time Harley-Davidson rider, and a certified yoga teacher. He started the workshop at Superstition Harley-Davidson in Apache Junction, Ariz., in 2017, and has led yoga and breath workshops in Queen Creek, Ariz.; Marquette, Mich.; and Wausau.
An author of 99 articles on yoga, Ormson taught in the communication department at Northcentral Technical College in Wausau for 12 years, and bought his first motorcycle at Wausau Harley Davidson (now Bull Falls Harley-Davidson of Wausau). He first saw yoga in India and started practicing in Hawaii where a bad back had forced him to temporarily suspend biking.
